Family. The word we choose to describe our culture, salon, and our employees. The word we choose to describe our clients; past, present and future. The word we choose to describe you.
This past weekend Daisy and I had the privilege to meet more of our extended family. The type of people including stylists, owners, distributer representatives and company that represents what we stand for and where we are going. We had the privilege to visit Keune HairCosmetics, at their USA branch in Atlanta, GA.
We strive to provide the best products to our clients that we believe in and we choose to use ourselves. The only way to keep growing is to educate ourselves and ask questions. There are certain things we search for when considering a new line or company to work with and Keune did not disappoint.
Keune is a family owned company from the Netherlands. They are a Global company for over 90 years and created the first gel, mousse and hairspray on the market. They provide a low ammonia permanent color and zero ammonia semi color - which we know a lot of people want to avoid ammonia.
The night before the Color class in the Keune Academy where they have a working school with students daily, they took us to Maggiano's for a wonderful meal with other stylists from Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, etc. The educators and representatives from Keune were so welcoming and all the stylists that joined were like minded in what we strive to provide everyday.
The morning was full of listening and learning - the educator presented Keune's history of who, what, why and we took it all in. Followed by a great lunch and then it was time to play! We each mixed color to see what it was like to work with and applied to a Mannikin head. They were beautiful! Hairstylists learn best hands on - we have to feel what we are doing! The day ended and our wonderful representative took us back to the airport and bought us dinner. We said our goodbyes and flew back to Madison. It was a quick trip, but so inspiring. The Keune family reminds me very much of the Surface family whom we love dearly. Now wouldn't it be amazing to put both of them in a room. Union will always strive for more - we have more continued education on Monday February 6th - keep learning and growing!
